The stone was carved in 196 BC and was re-discovered in the late 1700's. After noticing that the rings around symbols denoted names of royalty, the stone was able to be fully deciphered. It was the key to understanding hieroglyphics.
The museum held everything from the mummy of Cleopatra to a Sony digital clock.

London Tower Bridge |
This is all that is left of the original castle. I was excavated when the subway station next door was built
The view of the London skyline was amazing from the other side of the tower bridge. The last night ended with a few beers and a long trip to the best nightclub in Europe. It wasn't open, so we called it a night
Day 8 - The Journey to Paris
Since our Eurail pass is not honored in the UK we decided to save money and take a bus. If you've ever ridden the Greyhound from Chicago (Yes Ryan, the Milwaukee trip) you know what these places are like. We were treated to pigeons dive-bombing us in the terminal and the lower class of London.
I hate pigeons |
On the way to Paris I enjoyed the best candy bar in the world (and its not for girls)
The bus ride included a ride on a ferry and was 9 hours in total. It was a log day but we found our hotel and enjoyed a late dinner. Since we are finally in mainland Europe, we can use our Eurail passes for our next trip.
Paris post to come...
